On a warm Friday evening, July 11, neighbors and baseball fans converged at the ballpark to enjoy America’s pastime and connect with the city’s bravest. The Greensboro Grasshoppers squared off against the Bowling Green Hot Rods under the setting sun, while the Greensboro Fire Department (GFD) turned a routine game night into a memorable community celebration.
As first pitches flew at 6:30 PM, families wandered the concourse, stopping by GFD’s booth to chat with firefighters, learn simple safety tips, and admire the department’s iconic badge. Children posed for photos beside the fire truck display, while veterans of the department shared stories of life on call. The stadium’s backdrop—Greensboro’s skyline framed by floodlights—served as a fitting stage for blending hometown pride with public-safety outreach.
Between innings, attendees cheered the Grasshoppers and greeted GFD personnel, forging new friendships beyond hydrants and hoses. By night’s end, everyone left not only with cotton candy and team caps but also with a stronger bond to the people who protect Greensboro. It was more than a baseball game—it was a true “Night Out” with Greensboro’s finest.
