Firefighter Friday: A Day with Greensboro’s Bravest

June 13, 2025

The scent of grilled hot dogs and the sound of cheerful sirens filled the air at Barber Park last Friday, as the Greensboro Fire Department hosted its beloved “Firefighter Friday” event. From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., families gathered for a unique opportunity to meet the city’s firefighters in a fun and relaxed setting.

The event, a free and family-friendly affair, offered more than just an up-close look at the impressive fleet of fire trucks. Children’s eyes widened with excitement as they took tours of the Fire Safety Trailer, learning invaluable safety lessons directly from the experts. Meanwhile, firefighters were on hand to answer questions, share stories, and help little ones aim a real fire hose.

Sponsored in part by the Greensboro Swarm, the day was designed to foster stronger community ties. It was a chance for residents to see the people behind the uniforms and for firefighters to connect with the families they serve. With plenty of games, activities, and refreshments for everyone, the event was a resounding success, leaving attendees with both full stomachs and a greater appreciation for “Greensboro’s Bravest.”
